A group of Year 11/12 students from Concord School are gaining practical work experience as part of their workplace learning program, and Dysons is proud to be part of this valuable opportunity. The students, under the guidance of Dysons Yard Manager Brian Sizeland and Concord's Workplace Learning Coordinators, are spending Tuesday mornings helping maintain the fleet at Dysons’ Bundoora Depot.
This week they’re focusing on cleaning Bus #814, one of seven buses that service Concord School. The students are assisting with both interior and exterior cleaning, gaining firsthand experience in bus maintenance while learning the importance of keeping the fleet in top condition.
This initiative is part of Dysons’ ongoing commitment to providing learning opportunities for individuals, including those who may face challenges in entering the workforce.
In addition to the work experience in bus maintenance, Dysons also offers opportunities through Frank and Tom’s, an on-site social enterprise café that helps individuals gain skills and experience in the hospitality industry.
By offering hands-on learning experiences across various industries, Dysons is proud to support the development of a diverse and inclusive workforce.
We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Concord School and other community initiatives, helping students gain valuable skills that will serve them well in their future careers.
We welcome expressions of interest from other community groups and schools that would like to provide learning opportunities and exposure to the busy world of buses.
